How do we get to Kenways Guest House?
Our address is 9 Victoria Park Avenue, Scarborough, YO12 7TR. We are just up the road from the main Peasholm Park entrance, North Bay Fisheries and The Hideout restaurant. Just down the road from Hollywood Cinema and the North Riding Brewpub.
From the North the A171 Whitby road brings you to North Marine Road at the top of our street; from the West the A170 Pickering Road is perfect and from the South the busy A64 brings you through the town centre and along Columbus Ravine at the bottom of our road.
The easiest way to walk from the train or bus station is to cross the main road at the traffic lights towards The Stephen Joseph theatre. Keep the SJT on your left and walk down Northway and onto Columbus Ravine. Keep going straight all the time and you’ll arrive at the bottom of our road.
The Coastliner buses from Leeds and York stop at Peasholm Gap bus stop on Columbus Ravine just at past the end of Victoria Park Avenue.
Is there parking at Kenways Guest House?
It is on street parking in zone 3A. On arrival we will supply you with a free permit to cover your time with us. There are normally spaces on our street but at peak times you may need to park on one of the parallel roads. The 3A zone roads are noted on the lamp posts.
Can we bring dogs to Kenways Guest House?
4 legged friends are welcome but we do ask that you make this very clear on booking as the number of suitable rooms is limited. We charge an additional £10 for each dog per stay. We do ask that you don’t bring your doggy into the dining room as we can’t always guarantee other guests love them as much as we do!
What time is breakfast served?
Breakfast is freshly cooked between 8am and 9.15am. There is always a daily special on offer and since everything is prepared to order we can be flexible to suit most requests.
Do you have vegetarian options?
Tim cooks his own recipe vegetarian sausages and hash browns to accompany tomatoes, mushrooms, beans and an egg cooked the way you like it. There are cereals, fruit and yogurts to get started with and a plentiful supply of toast.
We also have vegan sausages and a gluten free option for everything except black pudding. We don’t want anyone to go hungry!
How close is Kenways Guest House to the beach?
There is a short walk of approximately 5 minutes to the North Bay of Scarborough (this goes down the Cliffside footpath which is quite steep but paved). The more bustling beach on South Bay is a 20 minute walk through the town or past the castle. The beaches at Cayton Bay, Filey and Whitby are a short drive away.
How close is Kenways Guest House to Peasholm Park?
Victoria Park Avenue is the road opposite the main entrance to the park. This makes Kenways ideally situated for those wanting to stroll around the lake, enjoy a ride on a dragon boat or simply sit with an ice-cream and watch the world go by.
At the other end of the street is the fantastic Hollywood Plaza cinema. A Scarborough institution of 120 years this wonderful cinema shows 3 films a day to suit all tastes.
How close is Kenways Guest House to the town centre?
If you are happy walking the town centre is a leisurely 15 minute stroll from Kenways. There is plenty of town centre parking for those wanting to rest their legs.
How close is Kenways Guest House to South Bay?
The South Bay is a 20 minute walk through the town centre or a 25 minute walk via the castle – this is a fabulous walk and makes the most of the gorgeous cliff views. Alternatively, the open top bus service runs between the 2 bays throughout the summer season making the journey more exciting for our younger guests.
How close is Kenways Guest House to the Open Air Theatre?
The theatre is only 5 minutes from the door, it is a beautiful walk through Peasholm Park delivering you perfectly to the entrance in preparation for a great night of live music.
Where is the nearest pub?
Kenways is blessed with a real traditional Brew Pub right at the top of the street – approximately 60 steps away! Beer is brewed daily in the basement and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere is perfect for all visitors. Unfortunately, they do not serve food at the North Riding Brew Pub - if you wish to eat then the next closest pubs are The Albert on North Marine Road (a 5 minute walk away) or The Scarborough Arms on North Terrace (a 10 minute walk away). There is also Taylors pub/restaurant on the North Bay seafront at the bottom of our cliff path.
Where is the nearest fish & chip shop?
The ‘best’* fish & chip shop in Scarborough is right at the bottom of our street – less than 1 minute walk away. They serve incredibly fresh fish with the tastiest, crispest batter you will find alongside perfectly fried chips prepared to order. The constant queue outside is testament to the quality of this takeaway!

Are the rooms ensuite?
All 7 of the bedrooms at Kenways have an ensuite shower room plus toilet. The sink is in the bedroom in most of the rooms.
Is there free WiFi?
Kenways has free WiFi running throughout the whole property. All of the rooms have a strong signal and unlimited use is available during your stay.
